Jamie Thraves began his career in directing in the early nineties. He graduated from Hull Polytechnic in 1991 with a BA in Graphics, specializing in directing. He then went on to further education at The Royal College of Art, where he received his MA in Film and Television, specializing in directing.

Jamie has written and directed a number of short films, including Small Orange House, Scratch (shown at the BP Film Expo and the Rimini Film Festival), The Take Out (shown at the Chicago Film Festival), The Hackney Downs (shown at the British Short Film Festival and the Angers European Film Festival), Down in the City, and Negative. He also directed the music video for “Just” by Radiohead, which earned an MTV award for Breakthrough video in 1995. Since then, he has completed videos for Mansun, The Verve, Blind Melon, Travis, Goldie, and Doves.

Jamie has just directed his first feature-length film entitled The Low Down, co-produced by Oil Factory Inc. and Film Four in the UK. It made its debut at the Edinburgh International film festival in August, and also showed at this year’s Sundance Film Festival..
