THE DIRECTING DUO OF NICHOLAS GOFFEY AND DOMINIC HAWLEY MET AT THEIR LOCAL OXFORDSHIRE SCHOOL AT AGE 16. GROWING UP IN THE SAME TOWN, THEY BOTH GRAVITATED TOWARD BRISTOL, WHERE DOM COMPLETED HIS DEGREE IN CULTURAL AND MEDIA STUDIES.

AFTER GRADUATION, DOM PURSUED HIS INTEREST IN FILM BY SHOOTING SHORTS ON SUPER 8. NICK WAS BUSY DOCUMENTING, ON S-VHS, A BAND HIS BROTHER DANNY DRUMMED FOR AND SHOOTING HIS FIRST PROMO FOR THE SINGLE “CAUGHT BY THE FUZZ.” ALREADY FRIENDS AND SHARING A LOVE OF FILM, DOM&NIC DECIDED TO WORK TOGETHER.

THE BAND WAS SUPERGRASS AND THEY LANDED A DEAL WITH PARLOPHONE TO RELEASE THEIR FIRST SINGLE, “MANSIZE ROOSTER.” RATHER THAN TAKING THE RISK OF WORKING WITH A AN UNFAMILIAR DIRECTOR, THE BAND WANTED DOM&NIC, WHO HAD BOTH PLAYED WITH MEMBERS OF SUPERGRASS PREVIOUSLY, TO SHOOT THE PROMO. THE BOYS MET UP WITH OIL FACTORY AND THE REST IS HISTORY. THEY DIRECTED EVERY SUPERGRASS VIDEO FROM THE BAND’S FIRST TWO ALBUMS, AND HAVE WORKED WITH ARTISTS SUCH AS OASIS, DAVID BOWIE, CHEMICAL BROTHERS, THE SMASHING PUMPKINS AND ROBBIE WILLIAMS. THEY HAVE ALSO DIRECTED SPOTS FOR NIKE, COCA COLA, LEVI’S, MERCEDES, HEINEKEN AND T-MOBILE.

Dom&Nic’s first spot for Nike won them a Gold Lion at Cannes. Many of their spots since have been honored. This year, their spot “House of Cards” for Shelter UK won at the British TV Advertising Awards, the Art Directors Club Awards, the Creative Circle Awards, The Clio’s and at Cannes. Their spot “Grip” for Audi also won at this years British Advertising Awards.

DOM&NIC HOPE TO BUILD ON THEIR SUCCESS IN MUSIC VIDEOS AND COMMERCIALS BY ADDING A FEATURE FILM TO THEIR CREDITS IN THE FUTURE. AS NICK SAYS, “OUR AMBITION IS TO DIRECT A FEATURE TOGETHER BEFORE WE DIE…”
